  23. If you are on a color screen I think you are probably expreiencing
  24. xdvi's antialiasing. This, in fact, enhances the readability.  Try
  25. xdvi on a b/w screen as well and compare.  I'm not strong on graphics
  26. theory byt I think the fading at the edges fools the eyes into seeing
  27. better resolution than the screen has, thus easing reading.  At least
  28. it does for me.

  36. This is because xdvi is looking for the fonts to use, and it's taking
  37. it a long time.  You can aleviate this by using a ls-R database, look
  38. in the kpathsea Makefile for 'DB_FILE = $(libdir)/ls-R' and probably
  39. in the INSTALL file there as well (hum, I still use kpathsea 1.7,
  40. 'your milage may vary').
